Blaze Entertainment Maps Multi-Year Future for Evercade, Eyes Partnerships with Gaming Giants

Blaze Entertainment, the company behind the Evercade handheld console, announced a multi‑year plan that looks to extend the device’s presence well beyond its six‑year anniversary.

According to Sean Cleaver, the firm’s head of communications, the roadmap spans three to four years and includes ambitions to deepen ties with the classic‑games publisher Rare while exploring new collaborations with major developers.

Cleaver confirmed that discussions are underway with EA, Sega and Bandai Namco, though he stressed that any partnership will depend on the timing and readiness of those studios. “It’s about when they’re ready to do it,” he said, indicating that negotiations are still in early stages.

The Evercade, launched in 2020, has carved a niche by offering legally licensed retro titles on physical cartridges. Its longevity has been supported by a steady stream of new releases and a community of collectors, prompting Blaze to plan for another six years of support, mirroring the period it has already operated.

Industry observers note that securing licences from large publishers could broaden the console’s library and attract a wider audience, but such deals often involve complex revenue sharing and technical integration. Blaze’s expressed intent to work more closely with Rare—a studio known for beloved franchises such as “Banjo‑Kazooie” and “GoldenEye”—could signal an effort to bring higher‑profile titles to the platform.

Looking ahead, the company says it will continue to evaluate market demand and partner interest, aiming to release new hardware iterations or software updates as part of its long‑term strategy. The roadmap, while still tentative, suggests that Evercade’s developers are committed to keeping the retro‑gaming experience viable for the foreseeable future.
