Nintendo says Switch 2 price will stay steady after recent increase

During the most recent earnings call, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa reassured investors and fans that the company has no plans to raise the price of its newly released Switch 2 console again, a statement that follows a $50 price adjustment made earlier this year.

The price change, which lifted the entry‑level cost to $499, marked the first upward shift for a Nintendo hardware product in several generations. Analysts had speculated that further adjustments could be on the table as the company seeks to balance production costs with competitive pressures from rivals such as Sony and Microsoft.

Furukawa’s comment came as Nintendo reported solid sales figures for the Switch 2, indicating that the modest increase has not deterred demand. The console, which builds on the original Switch’s hybrid design, offers improved performance and a brighter display while retaining the portable‑to‑TV flexibility that helped the brand dominate the market for over a decade.

Industry observers note that maintaining a stable price point is crucial for Nintendo’s broader strategy. The company has been expanding its ecosystem with new game releases, a subscription service, and a growing lineup of accessories. Keeping the hardware cost predictable helps preserve the appeal of the platform to both longtime fans and newcomers, especially in regions where price sensitivity remains high.

Looking ahead, Nintendo said it will continue to monitor market conditions but does not anticipate any further price modifications for the Switch 2 in the near term. The firm’s focus appears to be on delivering software updates, expanding its game library, and leveraging the console’s upgraded hardware to support upcoming titles. Investors will be watching how this pricing stability influences quarterly performance and the company’s competitive positioning in the crowded console landscape.
