Armed Intruders Assault Man, Threaten Unborn Child in Crypto Heist

A homeowner was violently attacked in his own residence and forced to surrender cryptocurrency holdings after intruders threatened to kill his pregnant wife's baby, police said.

The assailants entered the property armed with hammers, repeatedly striking the victim until he complied with their demands. Under duress, he transferred cryptocurrency worth several hundred thousand pounds to accounts controlled by the thieves, who then fled the scene.

Authorities highlighted the incident as part of a growing pattern of crypto‑related robberies, where criminals exploit the anonymity and speed of digital assets to demand payments. Such crimes often involve intimidation tactics, as perpetrators seek to bypass traditional banking safeguards and extract funds directly from victims' wallets.

Police have launched a criminal investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward. They also reminded the public that cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible and that owners should employ robust security measures, such as hardware wallets and multi‑factor authentication, to protect their assets.

If apprehended, the perpetrators could face severe charges, including aggravated assault and extortion. The case underscores the need for stronger law‑enforcement capabilities to tackle cyber‑enabled thefts and raises concerns about the safety of individuals who hold substantial digital wealth.
