Instagram Introduces Option to Showcase Tagged Posts on Main Profile Grid
Instagram has rolled out a new feature that lets users move photos in which they have been tagged onto their primary profile grid, giving them greater control over the visual layout of their accounts.
Until now, tagged content lived in a separate “Tagged” tab that could be accessed only by tapping the specific section of a profile. The update adds a straightforward “Add to Profile” button that copies the selected post to the main feed while preserving the original tag and attribution.
The change is part of Meta’s broader strategy to provide both creators and casual users with more tools for curating their visual narratives. The feature launched earlier this month and is available on the latest iOS and Android versions of the app.
Analysts suggest the addition could boost engagement, as users are more likely to showcase collaborative or brand‑related images without compromising the aesthetic consistency of their grids. It also responds to long‑standing user feedback about the difficulty of integrating tagged photos into a cohesive feed.
From a privacy standpoint, the reposted image remains linked to the original post, keeping the original caption and the tagger’s settings intact. Users can remove the grid copy at any time, and the feature respects the sharing permissions set by the original poster.
Looking forward, Instagram may expand the capability to include editing tools or direct sharing to Stories from the Tagged tab. For now, the option reflects a broader trend among social platforms to blur the line between user‑generated content and curated portfolios.
The feature is optional and must be enabled in the app’s settings; the tagged post appears on the grid only after the account owner approves the addition. As Instagram continues to refine its visual layout options, this modest tweak offers users a new way to shape the public face of their profiles.
