Dutch police announced the arrest of a suspect linked to the notorious ShinyHunters hacking collective after discovering digital notes indicating plans to arrange two killings.

The individual, identified only by his online alias, was taken into custody following a coordinated investigation that traced his activities to a laptop containing explicit instructions for hiring killers. Prosecutors say the evidence suggests premeditated intent to eliminate two targets, although the identities of the intended victims have not been disclosed.

ShinyHunters has been active since the early 2020s, gaining a reputation for breaching corporate networks, exfiltrating personal data and selling it on underground markets. The group has been implicated in high‑profile data leaks affecting companies across Europe and North America, often demanding ransom in cryptocurrency. While its operations have traditionally centered on cyber extortion, the recent arrest marks the first time Dutch authorities have linked a member to a plot involving physical violence.

Law enforcement officials said the operation began after monitoring suspicious communications linked to the gang’s online forums. A warrant to seize the suspect’s computer yielded a series of text files and encrypted messages outlining the murder arrangements, prompting the raid.
