Disney+ Announces 30% Discount on Annual Plans in Australia and New Zealand Ahead of Price Reset
Disney+ will revert to its standard subscription rates tomorrow, but Australian and New Zealand customers can lock in a 30% discount on annual plans if they act before the change takes effect.
The promotion arrives after the service raised its fees in two successive years – first in February 2025 when the platform integrated ESPN content, and again in April 2026 as part of a broader price adjustment across its global markets.
Industry observers note that while many streaming rivals have also nudged prices upward over the past twelve months, Disney+ is one of the few that has implemented back‑to‑back hikes. The latest discount is framed as a “thank you” to loyal subscribers in the region and a bid to retain churn‑prone users ahead of the price reset.
In Australia, the current annual subscription stands at AUD $149, down from the full‑price AUD $213 after the 30% markdown. New Zealand’s figures follow a similar pattern, with the discounted rate bringing the yearly fee to NZD $159 versus the regular NZD $227.
Analysts suggest the timing aligns with a competitive landscape in which rivals such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and local players are also tweaking their pricing structures. The discount could help Disney+ sustain its subscriber base while it continues to expand original content and sports offerings.
Consumers who miss the limited‑time offer will see the full price reinstated on 21 October 2026. Disney+ has not indicated whether similar promotions will recur, leaving the market to watch how the price reset influences subscriber growth in the months ahead.
