Circular launches Ring 3 series, adding NFC payments and tactile alerts

Circular announced on Thursday that its next generation of smart rings, dubbed the Ring 3 series, will be available in two configurations – a Pro model and a slimmer variant. Both devices will incorporate an NFC chip that enables users to make contactless payments directly from the ring, and they will provide vibrating cues for alarms, reminders and other notifications.

The inclusion of near‑field communication positions the Ring 3 as one of the few wearables that can replace a smartphone or card for everyday transactions. According to the company, the embedded chip works with standard payment networks, allowing the ring to function similarly to a contactless credit card while retaining the biometric security features that circular devices typically offer.

In addition to payment capability, the new rings will deliver haptic feedback for a range of alerts, from calendar events to health‑related reminders. The launch arrives as the smart‑ring market continues to expand, with competitors such as Oura and Motiv pushing health‑tracking functionalities.
