Apple launches Get Ready tool to streamline iPhone Duo pre‑order rush

Apple has rolled out a new "Get Ready" feature that lets shoppers configure their iPhone Duo purchase before the official pre‑order window opens on Friday, October 16, in an effort to tame the annual surge of online traffic.

The service works through a simple web interface or the Apple Store app. Users sign in with their Apple ID, select their preferred model, storage size, color, carrier and payment method, and then receive a confirmation that their setup is saved. When the pre‑order clock strikes midnight on Friday, the system automatically places the order for the saved configuration.

Apple’s decision reflects lessons learned from previous launches, when high demand has strained its servers and led to checkout delays for consumers. Similar pre‑order preparation tools were deployed for the Apple Watch and AirPods releases, allowing the company to spread out the load and give customers a clearer path to securing the devices they want.

Industry observers note that the iPhone Duo is expected to generate strong interest, especially given its new dual‑camera system and upgraded processor. By letting buyers lock in their choices ahead of time, the Get Ready tool could reduce frustration and help carriers anticipate inventory needs more accurately.

Consumers who wish to take advantage of the service can start the setup process immediately. Apple will send a notification when the pre‑order window opens, and the saved order will be submitted automatically, giving participants a better chance of obtaining their desired configuration without the typical website bottlenecks.
